To refuse an offer — or to lower the volume, heat, or power.

Example: She turned down the job because the salary was too low.
   → Chinese given as: 她因为薪水太低拒绝了那份工作。

Tip: You turn a dial down to lower it — and “turn down” an offer the same way.
