Use “make” to create or produce something; use “do” for tasks and activities.

Example: I need to do my homework before I make dinner.
   → Chinese given as: 我得先做作业，再做晚饭。

Tip: “Make” leaves something behind (a cake, a plan, a mess). “Do” is just the activity.
