To start talking about a topic — or, separately, to raise a child.

Example: I don't want to bring this up now, but we have a problem.
   → Chinese given as: 我现在不想提这件事，但我们有个问题。

Tip: In a meeting you “bring up” a point the way you bring it up to the surface.
