IELTS speaking practice with a tutor

Speaking is the part of IELTS you cannot really practise on your own — you need someone to hold the conversation, push you when you give one-word answers, and tell you honestly where the band 6 habits are. A tutor who knows the exam can do all three.

What a good IELTS speaking tutor does

More than just chat with you:

How much practice you need

If you are already around band 6 and aiming for 7, most people need 6–10 focused speaking sessions over 4–6 weeks, plus daily solo practice. If you are further off, or the exam is soon, an intensive block of 2–3 sessions a week works better. Message a few tutors below, tell them your target band and test date, and ask how they would structure it.

Common questions

Can a tutor give me an accurate IELTS band estimate?

An experienced IELTS tutor can estimate your speaking band within about half a band after a full mock test, and tell you exactly which criterion is limiting you.

Is speaking practice with a non-native tutor useful for IELTS?

Yes, if they know the exam. IELTS Speaking rewards clear, developed answers and a range of structures — a fluent, exam-trained tutor at C1/C2 can prepare you effectively, often at a lower rate.
