To refuse an offer — or to lower the volume, heat, or power.
What it means
Meaning 1: reject / refuse an offer, invitation, or request: They turned down my application.
Meaning 2: reduce the level of something with a control: Turn the music down. The opposite is turn up.
💡 You turn a dial down to lower it — and “turn down” an offer the same way.
