“It's” = “it is” or “it has”. “Its” = belonging to it. No apostrophe for possession.
1What it means
it's is a contraction: it always means it is or it has. If you can’t expand it to one of those, it’s wrong.
its (no apostrophe) shows possession, like his or her: the dog wagged its tail.
💡 Apostrophe = missing letter, not ownership. “it’s” is always “it is / it has”.
